Position: Interventions Teaching Assistant

Location: Camden

Start Date: ASAP

Type: Part-time (Half a day)

Step Teachers are seeking a passionate and dedicated Interventions Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Camden. This part-time role provides targeted intervention support to students, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Interventions Teaching Assistant will focus on delivering tailored interventions, with emphasis on phonics to support the children’s academic progress and success.

Interventions Teaching Assistant - Role:

  • Assist students in Year 4 and Year 2 with tailored interventions, focusing on areas of difficulty such as phonics.
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support to SEND children to enhance their learning experience.
  • Work closely with the class teachers to align interventions with the curriculum and classroom activities.
  • Build positive relationships with students, offering encouragement, support, and confidence-building.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment, helping all students feel supported.

Interventions Teaching Assistant - Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, with specific experience in providing interventions for SEND students.
  • A good understanding of phonics and experience running phonics interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff and students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with additional learning needs.
