Job description

Step Teachers are working with a Nursery School based in Newham to source a part-time Early years educator. The right candidate would need to at least have a level 3 qualification in childcare and early education (or equivalent) and successful EYFS experience in a school or setting. You might be experienced or newly qualified. This is a long-term maternity cover role.

 Working hours:

20 hours per week, term time only

Monday-Friday 8.30 am-12.30 pm

 Requirements:

  • Must be a well-qualified early years practitioner with enthusiasm, energy and commitment to high-quality early years education.
  • Must have a sound understanding of child development, the Early Years Foundation Stage, and a strong commitment to supporting children’s learning through play, inside and outdoors.
  • You must be positive about partnering with families in our diverse, multi-lingual community.
  • Be able to promote the inclusion of children with special educational needs and disabilities.

 Responsibilities:

  •  To be a key person to a group of children whilst still working to promote the best interests of all children in the nursery.
  • To care for children, and actively promote their physical and medical health, emotional, communication and other learning needs to help children achieve their full potential.
  • To take part in Performance Management and or coaching or supervision processes.
  • Must be skilled at listening to children and having conversations with them.
  • Must love playing with children and spending time outdoors with them in all weathers.
  • Must be able to promote children’s learning through our broad curriculum.
  • Must be able to maintain children’s journals to a high standard.
  • You would need to be skilled and confident in working with parents.
