Job description

This school is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Reception Year Teaching Assistant to support the learning and development of children in our Early Years setting. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with teachers to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where young learners can thrive. This role begins March 2025.

Duties as a Reception Year Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Support the class teacher in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of activities that promote learning through play
  • Work with small groups and individual children to support their academic, social, and emotional development
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support children with personal care needs, including toileting and dressing if required
  • Observe and assess children’s progress, providing feedback to the teacher
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
  • Supervise children during playtime, lunchtimes, and other school activities
  • Help set up and tidy away learning resources and classroom materials

Ideal Reception Year Teaching Assistant:

 

  • Have experience working with early years children in a school or nursery setting
  • Hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – desirable but not essential
  • Have a strong understanding of the EYFS framework
  • Be patient, caring, and enthusiastic about supporting young children
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills as a Reception Year Teaching Assistant.
  • Be adaptable, proactive, and willing to contribute to the wider school community
