Job description
This school is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with teachers and students, providing valuable support in the classroom and helping pupils reach their full potential. This role begins March 2025.
Duties as a Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Support the class teacher in delivering lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils who need additional help
- Assist in preparing learning materials and classroom resources
- Support students with special educational needs (SEN) or those with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
- Help manage behaviour and encourage a positive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers to assess and track students’ progress
- Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, and school activities
- Provide administrative support, including record-keeping and resource organisation
Ideal Secondary Teaching Assistant:
- Have experience working with secondary school-aged children (desirable but not essential)
- Hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
- Be patient, caring, and enthusiastic about supporting young people’s education
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Be proactive, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students and staff as a Secondary Teaching Assistant.
- Have a strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and learning support techniques
