Step Teachers are working alongside a Primary School in Enfield to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant. This position offers the chance to make a positive difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will take on the responsibility of supporting the care, development, learning, and well-being of children with SEND. You will work closely with the class teacher and the school’s SENCO to ensure that each child receives the support they need to thrive. This role involves working both one-on-one and with small groups of key children to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
SEND Learning Support Assistant – Role:
- Take responsibility for the care, development, learning, and well-being of children alongside the class teacher and SENCO.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to identified children with SEND, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs.
- Making a positive impact on the lives of children with diverse learning needs.
- Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivery of activities.
- Supporting the development of children’s language and communication skills.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and providing pastoral support to children when required.
- Providing feedback to parents and carers on children’s progress and achievements.
- Supervising and supporting pupils during lunch and playtimes.
SEND Learning Support Assistant – Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a SEND Learning Support Assistant in a Primary School.
- A genuine passion for working with children with SEND and supporting their development.
- A patient, compassionate, and adaptable approach to supporting children with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
