Charity Update from May
As the sun starts to creep up, we know summer’s on its way! Welcome to the May charity update, where we continue our mission to raise money for children living in poverty with our charity partner of the year, Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG).
This month, our dedicated Class Act team in Oxfordshire embarked on an ambitious challenge: cycling 780 miles throughout May without ever leaving their office! Their virtual route took them from their Oxford office to all other Step Teachers' offices across the country, raising money for CPAG along the way.
The Route
Here's their route they mapped out:
Class Act to Plymouth – 200 Miles
Plymouth to Stevenage – 271 Miles
Stevenage to Hertfordshire – 35.7 Miles
Hertfordshire to Norwich – 71.6 Miles
Norwich to Rainham – 120 Miles
Rainham to Borough High Street – 13.5 Miles
Borough High Street to Friern Barnet Lane – 11 Miles
Friern Barnet Lane to Class Act – 68.2 Miles
The Journey
Week 1: Oxford to Plymouth
The team “set off” for Plymouth, located 200 miles southwest of Oxford. After the first week, they completed an impressive 90 miles! Compliance consultant Becky Besant led the charge, peddling her way towards the first stop. With 110 miles remaining to Plymouth, spirits were high and legs were strong.
Week 2: Plymouth to Stevenage
Upon “arriving” in Plymouth, the team shifted gears towards Stevenage in Hertfordshire, a hefty 271 miles from Plymouth. With 471 miles now behind them, the team’s determination was unwavering.
Weeks 3 & 4: The Final Push
As May progressed, the team continued to pedal tirelessly, covering the remaining stops:
Stevenage to Hertfordshire: 35.7 Miles
Hertfordshire to Norwich: 71.6 Miles
Norwich to Rainham: 120 Miles
Rainham to Borough High Street: 13.5 Miles
Borough High Street to Friern Barnet Lane: 11 Miles
Friern Barnet Lane to Class Act: 68.2 Miles
By the 31st of May, they triumphantly “returned” to their Class Act office in Oxfordshire, having completed the entire 780-mile journey!
A Job Well Done
A massive well done to the Class Act team for their dedication and effort. Their virtual cycling challenge not only highlighted their team spirit and endurance but also raised vital funds for CPAG.
