Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Design Technology Teacher to join a team at a prestigious school. The successful candidate will have a passion for design, engineering, and creativity, inspiring students to develop practical skills and problem-solving abilities in a hands-on learning environment. This role begins September 2025.

Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:

 

  • Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons across [KS3/KS4/KS5].
  • Teach a range of specialisms, such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles, or Engineering.
  • Develop students' skills in design thinking, problem-solving, and practical application.
  • Support students with coursework and exam preparation.
  • Ensure a safe and well-maintained workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Inspire students through creative projects and industry links.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, such as STEM clubs, design competitions, or practical workshops.

Ideal Design Technology Teacher:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Design Technology, Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Experience teaching Design Technology at [Secondary/Post-16] level.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software, 3D printing, woodworking, and other relevant technologies.
  • Excellent practical and classroom management skills as a Design Technology Teacher.
  • Passion for innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning.
  • A DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
