We are seeking a passionate and creative Film Studies Teacher to join a team at a prestigious school in Suffolk. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of film theory, history, and production techniques, inspiring students to explore the world of cinema through critical analysis and practical filmmaking. This is for September 2025.
Duties as a Film Studies Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging Film Studies lessons at [GCSE/A-Level/BTEC] level.
- Teach students about film theory, genre, narrative, cinematography, and industry contexts.
- Foster students' ability to critically analyse films from diverse cultures and time periods.
- Support students in practical filmmaking projects, including scriptwriting, editing, and production.
- Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Encourage creative thinking and independent research.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities such as film clubs, screenings, and media projects.
Ideal Film Studies Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (for school-based roles).
- A degree in Film Studies, Media Studies, or a related subject.
- Experience teaching Film Studies at [Secondary/Post-16] level.
- Strong knowledge of film theory, history, and production techniques.
- Ability to inspire and engage students with a love for film and media.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills as a Film Studies Teacher.
- A DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
