Job description

We are looking for a passionate and dynamic French Teacher to join a highly motivated language school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified teacher to inspire students and foster a love for the French language and culture. As a French Teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with students of varying abilities and help them develop their linguistic and cultural understanding.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that challenge students to excel in both written and spoken French. If you have a love for the French language and are committed to providing an enriching and motivating learning environment, we would love to hear from you.

Duties as a French Teacher:

  • Promote Language Acquisition: Develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in French.
  • Encourage Cultural Understanding: Introduce students to French culture, history, and current events to deepen their appreciation for the language.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and setting clear learning targets.
  • Create a Positive Learning Environment: Foster an inclusive, respectful, and stimulating classroom atmosphere that encourages students to communicate confidently in French.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work alongside other language teachers to share resources and develop interdisciplinary projects.
  • Liaise with Parents and Guardians: Maintain regular communication with parents about student progress and development.

Requirements for the French Teacher position:

  • Educational Requirements: A degree in French, Modern Languages, or a related subject, and a recognised teaching qualification (QTS).
  • Experience: Experience teaching French at [Key Stage 3 and 4] level is desirable but not essential.
  • Fluency in French: Native or near-native proficiency in French, with excellent spoken and written language skills.
  • Teaching Passion: A passion for teaching and inspiring students in the study of French.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to plan, deliver, and assess lessons effectively, with good time-management skills.
  • DBS Check: A current DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is required.
