Job description

Step Teachers are seeking an experienced General Science Teacher located in Brandon commencing in March 2025. This day to day  position is for 10 days initially, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion.

Your duties as a General Science Teacher:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality science lessons that engage and inspire students.
  • Teach across all three science disciplines: biology, chemistry, and physics at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • As a General Science Teacher ensure that lessons are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting clear targets for improvement.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Foster the development of practical skills through laboratory experiments and scientific investigations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Science department to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and events that promote scientific learning, such as science clubs or school trips.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding students' progress and provide updates on academic development.

To be considered for this General Science Teacher position, you will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related field).
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for Science.
  • Experience teaching science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about science and capable of inspiring students to explore scientific concepts.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
