Are you a qualified Science teacher looking for your next teaching role from January 2025? A high achieving all girls’ secondary school in Wandsworth, Southwest London are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, committed, and inspiring ‘Head of Biology’ to join them from January 2025 until the end of the academic year in July 2025. The school are looking for a long-term ‘Head of Biology' who is available to work full-time (5 days a week). If you have a background in teaching biology, then this ‘Head of Biology’ role could be just the opportunity for you.
Key Responsibilities - Head of Biology:
- As a Head of Biology, you will be responsible for designing and delivering comprehensive science lessons that inspire curiosity and foster a deep understanding of scientific concepts.
- Utilise a variety of teaching strategies, including hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and multimedia resources, to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and make connections between science and the world around them.
- Assess student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction as needed to meet the needs of individual learners.
Key Requirements - Head of Biology:
- QTS and enhanced up-to-date DBS.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, education, or a related field.
- Sound knowledge of the requirements of the Science Curriculum in Years 7 – 13.
- Successful teaching at KS3, KS4 and KS5.
- Sound knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum and its assessment.
- Successful experience of the planning and preparation of schemes of work for the effective. delivery of the Science Curriculum.
- Successful experience of planning and teaching at Sixth Form level.
- Successful management experience as a curriculum leader and as a member of a team.
- Experience and understanding of the issues involved in the support and supervision of staff.
- Proven ability in the good management of staff.
- Ability to lead a team of staff.
- Good administrative skills.
- Ability to plan, manage and focus meetings.
- Ability to deal with issues and queries raised by parents/carers.
- Good IT skills.
