Job description
We are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to join our Humanities department. The successful candidate will inspire students with engaging lessons that bring the past to life, developing their analytical and critical thinking skills. You will play a key role in delivering the KS3 and KS4 History curriculum (and KS5 if applicable), ensuring students develop a deep understanding of historical events, concepts, and perspectives. This role begins in February 2025.
Duties as a History Teacher:
- Encourage critical thinking, debate, and independent research among students.
- Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing feedback to support development.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to support all learners.
- Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that fosters curiosity and a love for history.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Humanities department to develop and refine curriculum content.
- Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level History assessments, ensuring high achievement.
- Engage in extra-curricular activities such as history clubs, trips, and enrichment programmes.
Ideal History Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in History or a related subject.
- Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for historical inquiry.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A commitment to promoting high standards and student progress.
- A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
