Job description

We are looking for a passionate and talented Music Teacher to join a school and inspire students through engaging and creative music lessons. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality music education, encouraging musical creativity, and helping students develop their skills and confidence. We are looking for someone to fill this role ASAP in February 2025.

Duties as a Music Teacher:

 

  • Plan and deliver high-quality music lessons for Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
  • Teach a range of musical concepts, including composition, performance, music theory, and appreciation.
  • Support students in developing skills in playing instruments, singing, and music production.
  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level music exams, where applicable.
  • Organise and lead school concerts, performances, and extracurricular music activities.
  • Encourage creativity and a love for music in students of all abilities.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.

Ideal Music Teacher:

 

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS/PGCE or equivalent).
  • A degree in Music or a related field.
  • Experience teaching music at the secondary school level.
  • Strong practical and theoretical music skills, with proficiency in at least one instrument.
  • Enthusiasm for extra-curricular activities, including school performances and ensembles.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
