We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teacher to join their team, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as SEMH Teacher:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to meet the needs of students with SEMH challenges.
Provide a positive and structured learning environment that supports emotional regulation, social skills development, and academic progress.
Differentiate lessons to accommodate a range of learning abilities and emotional needs.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to address specific SEMH needs.
Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Work closely with the SENDCO, other teachers, and support staff to create personalised learning and support plans.
Provide support with behaviour management, using restorative practices and other SEMH-specific strategies.
Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to supporting students’ wellbeing and learning.
Contribute to whole-school initiatives for SEMH support and mental health awareness.
Ideal SEMH Teacher:
A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related subject.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
Experience teaching or supporting students with SEMH or other SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
Strong understanding of SEMH needs and strategies for supporting social and emotional development.
Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively and empathetically as an SEMH Teacher.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
A proactive approach to student wellbeing and inclusion.
