Job description
This is a dedicated and inclusive school committed to providing high-quality education and support for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). We are seeking a passionate and skilled SEN Teacher to join their team, working to create a nurturing and effective learning environment tailored to the individual needs of their students. This role begins September 2025.
Duties as a SEN Teacher:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the needs of students with SEN.
Work closely with the SENCO and support staff to implement personalised learning plans (EHCPs and IEPs).
Use a range of teaching strategies to support students with a variety of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student confidence and independence.
Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching methods to support their development.
Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.
Support behaviour management using positive reinforcement and restorative practices.
Communicate effectively with parents and carers to ensure a strong home-school partnership.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to annual reviews of EHCPs.
Ideal SEN Teacher:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
Experience teaching students with SEN, either in a mainstream or specialist setting.
Strong understanding of SEN strategies, interventions, and best practices.
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills as a SEN Teacher.
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students with diverse needs.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to student welfare.
