Are you a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant  who wants to make a difference in the lives of students with complex needs? Do you have experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant working with individuals who require additional support in an educational setting? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Step Teachers are working with a Primary School in Havering and are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school that champions high aspirations and also contribute to raising the achievement of students. Please note this is a temporary to permanent role(Monday to Friday) and it is expected to start in November 2024.

Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant :

  • Provide one-on-one support to a male student with SEN, assisting with their educational and personal development.
  • The SEN Teaching Assistant  should assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to implement tailored support plans for students with SEN.
  • The SEN Teaching Assistant  should be consistent and maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to comprehensive assessments and reports.

Requirements of a SEN Teaching Assistant :

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant.
  • SEN experience is essential.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in different educational settings.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) are desirable but not essential.
