Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENCO Teacher to lead and enhance their Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision, ensuring high-quality support for pupils with additional needs.

SENCO Teacher Duties:

  • Oversee and coordinate the provision for students with special educational needs.
  • Identify and assess students requiring SEN support and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and external agencies to implement effective support strategies.
  • Ensure the school remains compliant with the SEND Code of Practice and maintains accurate records.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to staff on SEN best practices.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of SEN interventions, making improvements where necessary.

Ideal SENCO Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to undertake it)
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEN legislation
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills as a SENCO Teacher
  • A commitment to inclusion and supporting all learners
