Job description

Class Act are seeking an experienced Social Science Teacher located in Devon commencing in September 2025. This full-time position is for 1.5 terms initially, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion.

Your duties as a Social Science Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across a variety of social science subjects.
  • Design and implement differentiated activities to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Promote critical thinking, debate, and independent learning in students.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback and intervention where needed.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Encourage students to apply social science concepts to real-world issues and challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to continually enhance the social science curriculum.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers to discuss students' progress and development.

To be considered for this Social Science Teacher position, you will: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Social Science or related subject (Sociology, Psychology, Politics, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of the social science curriculum and exam specifications.
  • Experience teaching social science at the secondary school level (preferred, but not essential).
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring students to understand social issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate students and create an engaging classroom atmosphere.
