We take our safeguarding role seriously, and all workers are vetted before being selected for work.
All vetting procedures have been designed to surpass the requirements placed on us by the DfE’s ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance document. We’re members of REC Education and were awarded REC Audited Education Status in December 2017, which verifies that our procedures are in accordance with The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003, the REC Code of Professional Practice and safeguarding practices regarding children.

Vetting Checklist & Assignment Confirmation
Step Teachers was the first agency in the UK to offer schools written confirmation of our workers’ vetting checks before they begin work. Our Vetting Checklist states the checks that we’ve carried out including identification, qualifications, NCTL Prohibition Check and DBS.
It was designed and developed to meet Ofsted’s Single Central Record requirements but goes beyond them. We believe that good agencies should provide this checklist automatically without you having to ask.
Assignment Confirmation
Step Teachers will send you an Assignment Confirmation for every assignment you place with us before the candidate attends your school. This sets out the assignment details and candidate’s information, including their photo and any relevant notes, ensuring there are no discrepancies between us.
