Job description
We are seeking a patient, caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs at a wonderful school. This is a rewarding opportunity to help children thrive – both academically and emotionally – in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Beginning ASAP.
Duties as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
Provide dedicated support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including those with EHCPs
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored interventions and personalised learning
Help pupils access the curriculum and participate in all aspects of school life
Support the development of pupils’ communication, social skills, and independence
Assist with behaviour management using consistent, positive strategies
Adapt resources and provide differentiated activities to meet individual needs
Maintain accurate records and contribute to assessments and reviews
Liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
Has experience working with children with SEND, including autism, speech and language needs, SEMH, or learning difficulties
Is calm, resilient, and adaptable in a busy school environment
Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills as a SEND Teaching Assistant.
Has a strong understanding of inclusive practice and child development
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils
(Desirable) Holds a relevant qualification such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
