Job description

Are you keen on making a positive impact on the lives of children with complex needs by serving as a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant? Have you previously offered extra support to students as a SEN Teaching Assistant in an educational environment? If yes, we have an excellent opportunity for you! Step Teachers are collaborating with a Primary school in Havering and are seeking a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant with extensive SEN experience to join a school that fosters high ambitions and contributes to student growth. Under the former Ofsted rated guidelines, the school was rated ‘Good’. Please note that this is a long-term position scheduled to commence in October 2024.

Key Responsibilities of a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with SEN, assisting with their educational and personal development.
  • The KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant should assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to implement tailored support plans for students with SEN.
  • The KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant should maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, contributing to comprehensive assessments and reports.

Requirements of a KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previously working as a Teaching Assistant with SEN experience in a mainstream school.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in different educational settings.
