Job description

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant searching for a fulfilling position in secondary schools around Suffolk? Then we are looking for you! Step Teachers are working with many Secondary Schools in the Norfolk area which require Teaching Assistants for daily ,short-term and long-term supply to work in Suffolk schools and surroundings They are now recruiting for supply Teaching Assistant to start in November 2024.

Key Responsibilities - Teaching Assistant:

  • Use a wide range of opportunities to develop students’ language, literacy, numeracy and related skills;
  •  Use specialism / expertise to support specific students as directed by subject teacher or SENDCO;
  •  Work with students, either one-to-one or in small groups, all of whom have identified Special Educational Needs and an EHCP;
  •  Provide feedback in written and verbal form, as appropriate, maintaining basic records;
  •  Clarify and explain instructions;
  • Motivate and encourage student access learning and social tasks;
  •  Help students to concentrate on and finish work set, whilst encouraging independence;8. Develop methods of promoting / reinforcing students’ self-esteem;
  • Support students with aspects of behaviour, making appropriate and flexible use of the learning space and environment;
  •  As needed, look after sick/upset students;

Requirements - Teaching Assistant:

  • Good knowledge of Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Teaching Assistant in a UK-based educational setting is essential.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification is desirable.
  • Verifiable references from previous employers or placements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Passion for education and supporting the learning journey of students.
  • SEN experience would be favorable.
