Job description

Step Teachers are seeking an experienced Design Technology Teacher located in Enfield, to start as soon as possible. This full-time position is for 1 term, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion. 

This school, boasts a 'good' rating from Ofsted. It places a high value on fostering the intellectual growth of students and staff.

Your duties as a Design Technology Teacher:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons in Design Technology that engage students and develop their skills in design, creativity, and practical application.
  • Teach students in areas such as product design, resistant materials, CAD/CAM, and possibly engineering or electronics (depending on the school’s curriculum).
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the diverse needs and abilities of all students.
  • Develop a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that encourages student participation and independent thinking.
  • Manage student behavior effectively, maintaining a positive and productive classroom atmosphere.
  • Track and monitor students’ progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve their potential.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, such as technology clubs, design competitions, or school projects.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across the school to share best practices and improve student outcomes.

To be considered for this Design Technology Teacher position, you will: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in Design Technology or a related field.
  • Experience as a Design Technology Teacher for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (NQTs are welcome to apply).
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in areas such as product design, resistant materials, CAD/CAM, and/or electronics.
  • Ability to inspire students and encourage creativity and independent learning.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to motivate students.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A commitment to professional development and staying up-to-date with advancements in Design Technology.
