Job description

Are you a creative and committed educator with a passion for innovation, problem-solving and hands-on learning?

We are seeking an enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to join a dynamic and well-resourced DT department at a prestigious school. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 desirable), inspiring students through engaging lessons in areas such as product design, resistant materials, graphics, or food technology. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:

 

  • Deliver high-quality DT lessons that promote creativity, technical skills, and critical thinking

  • Plan and assess learning in line with the national curriculum and exam specifications

  • Encourage pupils to design, prototype and evaluate their ideas using a range of materials and tools

  • Ensure safe and effective use of workshop equipment and follow health and safety protocols

  • Support the development of practical and theoretical knowledge across all ability levels

  • Contribute to curriculum planning, extra-curricular clubs, competitions and school displays

Ideal Design Technology Teacher:

 

  • Holds QTS and a relevant degree in Design Technology or a related subject

  • Has strong subject knowledge in one or more specialisms within DT

  • Is confident delivering both practical and theoretical aspects of the subject

  • Has high expectations and a commitment to inclusive education

  • Is enthusiastic, organised and a team player as a Design Technology Teacher.

  • Is keen to contribute to the wider life of the school and inspire the next generation of designers and makers
