Job description
We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning in our mixed Year 2/3 class at a great school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a passionate team in a school where children are at the heart of everything we do. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant:
Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality lessons and activities
Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning and build confidence
Provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs, including those with EHCPs
Assist with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy interventions
Help prepare and organise learning materials, classroom resources, and displays
Promote positive behaviour and support children's emotional wellbeing
Supervise pupils during break/lunchtimes and transitions as needed
Contribute to assessments and record-keeping as directed by the teacher
Communicate effectively with staff and parents to support pupil progress
Participate in school events, trips and enrichment activities
Ideal Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant:
Have experience working with children in KS1 or lower KS2
Hold a relevant TA qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3) – desirable but not essential
Be confident supporting early reading, phonics and basic maths
Be patient, adaptable and nurturing in approach
Demonstrate good communication and teamwork skills as a Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant.
Show a genuine passion for helping children succeed and feel valued
Be committed to safeguarding and the wider school ethos
