Job description

We are seeking an innovative and passionate Design Technology Teacher to join a dedicated and creative Technology Department. The successful candidate will teach across Key Stages KS3, KS4, and/or KS5, inspiring students to develop their practical and problem-solving skills in areas such as product design, resistant materials, systems & control, and/or CAD/CAM.

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape young minds and contribute to a subject area that plays a vital role in preparing students for the future of design, manufacturing, and engineering. Starting May 2025.

Duties as a Design Technology Teacher:

 

  • Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons in Design Technology.

  • Teach a broad DT curriculum, adapting to your specialism and student needs.

  • Encourage innovation, critical thinking, and creativity in the workshop.

  • Maintain a safe and well-organised practical environment.

  • Support the development of curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities such as STEM clubs or design competitions.

Ideal Design Technology Teacher:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a DT specialism (e.g. Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics).

  • Experience teaching DT at secondary level (GCSE and/or A-Level desirable).

  • Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety in a practical setting as a Design Technology Teacher.

  • A creative and student-focused approach to teaching and learning.
