Job description

We are now looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Physics Technician to support their team in delivering high-quality practical lessons. 

We are seeking a dedicated Physics Technician to play a crucial role in supporting the teaching and learning of physics. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth operation of practical lessons, maintaining equipment and assisting staff and students in experiments and demonstrations. This role begins April 2025.

Duties as Physics Technician:

  • Prepare, set up, and maintain physics equipment and resources for practical lessons.

  • Assist teachers and students during experiments, ensuring safe and effective use of apparatus.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidelines.

  • Maintain laboratory stock levels and carry out equipment repairs as necessary.

  • Support the organisation of science-related extracurricular activities, such as STEM clubs and competitions.

  • Keep up to date with developments in science education and laboratory techniques.

  • Work collaboratively with the wider science department to ensure efficient technical support.

Ideal Physics Technician:

  • Has relevant experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in an educational setting.

  • Holds a qualification in physics, engineering, or a related field (desirable but not essential).

  • Has strong organisational and problem-solving skills as a Physics Technician.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.

  • Is knowledgeable about health and safety regulations in a lab setting.

  • Is a team player with excellent communication skills.
