Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and nurturing Year 1 Teacher to join a team from September 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity to support pupils as they take the exciting next step from Early Years into Key Stage 1.
Duties as a Year 1 Teacher:
Teach the Year 1 curriculum with creativity and structure
Assess and track progress, adapting teaching to meet the needs of all learners
Support the transition from Reception into Year 1 with sensitivity and care
Provide a rich, play-based and structured approach to learning
Promote pupils’ personal, social and emotional development
Use phonics effectively to support early reading and writing
Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
Contribute to wider school life, including trips, enrichment and events
Engage in ongoing professional development and whole-school initiatives
Ideal Year 1 Teacher:
Be passionate about Key Stage 1 and early child development
Have a strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum and phonics (e.g., Little Wandle/Read Write Inc./Letters and Sounds)
Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive lessons
Foster a warm, encouraging and well-managed classroom environment
Work closely with colleagues, support staff and families
Be reflective, proactive and a team player as a Year 1 Teacher.
Have high expectations of children’s learning, progress and behaviour
