Job description

We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic and creative Year 1 Teacher to join a Key Stage 1 team. This is a vital stage in children’s education, building on their Early Years experiences and laying strong foundations for future learning. We are looking for someone who can provide a smooth and supportive transition from the EYFS to KS1 while creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Year 1 Teacher:

 

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with the Year 1 curriculum.

  • Support pupils' transition from play-based learning to more structured classroom routines.

  • Deliver effective phonics teaching and support early literacy and numeracy.

  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching to meet individual needs.

  • Create a positive classroom culture that supports wellbeing, independence and curiosity.

Ideal Year 1 Teacher:

 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • A strong understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum.

  • Experience delivering phonics (e.g. Little Wandle, Read Write Inc., or similar schemes).

  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills as a Year 1 Teacher.

  • A warm, inclusive and reflective teaching style.
