As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching students across a range of year groups. You will help students develop their understanding of the English language and literature, encouraging them to think critically, creatively, and express themselves clearly. You will have the opportunity to teach both language and literature, ensuring that students are prepared for exams and equipped with the skills they need for the future.

Your duties as a English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons that cater to a range of abilities.
  • Teach both English Language and English Literature, helping students develop their writing, reading, and analytical skills.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and offering support to help students achieve their best.
  • Foster a love of reading and writing through diverse and inspiring activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to continuously enhance the curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers regarding student progress as an English Teacher.
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, such as reading clubs or drama productions, to enrich students’ learning experiences.

To be considered for this English Teacher position, you will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge of English Language and Literature, and the ability to inspire students to appreciate both.
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary school level (preferred, but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for teaching and the ability to engage students in learning.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
