Job description

Step Teachers are seeking an experienced Maths Teacher located in Plymouth commencing in September 2025. This full-time position is for 2 months initially, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion.

Your duties as a Maths Teacher:

 

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality maths lessons that meet the needs of all students.
  • Differentiate teaching to support students of various abilities, ensuring they understand key concepts and improve their mathematical skills.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and interventions as needed.
  • Encourage problem-solving, logical reasoning, and critical thinking in students.
  • Collaborate with other mathematics teachers to enhance the curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, promoting student engagement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers about student progress and any areas for improvement.

To be considered for this Maths Teacher position, you will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
  • Strong knowledge of the mathematics curriculum and examination requirements.
  • Experience teaching maths at the secondary school level (preferred but not essential).
  • Passion for mathematics and teaching, with the ability to inspire students.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt lessons to the diverse needs of students.
