Job description

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic High Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and dedicated team at a wonderful school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in children’s learning and has the skills to lead, support, and deliver learning across the school. Beginning ASAP.

Duties as an HLTA:

 

  • Plan and deliver learning activities for individuals, small groups, or whole classes under the guidance of teaching staff

  • Support teachers in the assessment, recording, and reporting of pupil progress

  • Cover classes during teacher PPA time, short-term absence, or other planned cover

  • Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials and resources

  • Support the development of pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural skills

  • Provide feedback to pupils in line with school policy and promote high expectations

  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of intervention programmes across KS1 and KS2

  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, SEND team, and other professionals

  • Contribute to a positive school ethos and attend relevant training and meetings

Ideal HLTA:

 

  • Holds HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience

  • Has strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills as an HLTA.

  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management and organisational abilities

  • Is flexible, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team

  • Understands the primary curriculum and supports high-quality learning

  • Builds strong, positive relationships with children and colleagues

  • Has experience working with a range of needs, including SEND and EAL

  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils
