Job description

Step Teachers are seeking an experienced Modern Foreign Languages Teacher located in Dereham commencing in February 2025. This full-time position is for 4 months initially, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion.

Your duties as a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in one or more modern foreign languages (e.g., French, Spanish, German, or other).
  • Teach languages across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and potentially Key Stage 5 (GCSE and A-Level).
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and setting achievable targets.
  • Foster a love of languages and cross-cultural understanding in your students.
  • Support students in developing their speaking and listening skills through interactive and communicative activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Modern Foreign Languages department to ensure continuity and consistency in curriculum delivery.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, such as language clubs, trips, or exchange programs, to further promote language learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.

To be considered for this Modern Foreign Languages Teacher position, you will:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in a Modern Foreign Language (e.g., French, Spanish, German, etc.) or a related field.
  • Strong command of the language(s) you will be teaching, both written and spoken.
  • Proven ability to teach MFL to a high standard at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Knowledge of the national curriculum and GCSE/A-Level MFL specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher
  • Passionate about teaching and inspiring students to achieve their best.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
